From the Edge to the Essence of Life
Why I Create Art
Since childhood I was a quiet observer, a shadow at life's periphery. Shyness and a pervasive low self-esteem forced a distance between me and others, my gaze always downward. In the school lunchroom I’d huddle alone or seek out kindred spirits, too timid to join the happy chatter of other classmates.
In midlife, I discovered hiking, which ignited my passion for photography. Initially, my goal was to capture breathtaking vistas, providing tangible memories of each peaceful escape. But soon the lens transformed into a window to a new world, not just the breathtaking vistas, but a reflection of myself. Through it, I glimpsed not the timid figure on the outskirts, but someone with a distinct perspective worthy of sharing. This transformation sparked within me a desire not only to share my art with others, but also to engage in meaningful conversations about it, fostering connections through the stories my photographs tell.
Today, my art serves as my voice, a bridge to connect and inspire. Each photograph is a story waiting to unfold, a spark to ignite conversations and offer inspiration and solace to all who encounter it.

"Sunset's Glow" captures the mesmerizing beauty of Balanced Rock as the setting sun casts a warm glow on the iconic red rock formation. The sky is painted in hues of orange and pink, with the tranquil desert landscape bathed in the soft, fading light. The full moon rises in the background creating a harmonious blend of nature's contrasting elements – the fiery embrace of the sunset and the serene presence of the full moon. This enchanting image invites viewers to witness the perfect transition from day to night in the heart of the desert Southwest.

Cloud Spirits
Swirling clouds dance along the craggy edges of Grand Teton, creating a mystical, otherworldly allure. The image captures not only a landscape but a metaphorical journey – a reminder that the most magical experiences await those who dare to venture beyond the familiar. The mountain, with its rugged peaks, becomes a symbol of the unexplored, and the dancing clouds serve as an invitation to embark on a journey into the unknown. The image whispers secrets of hidden wonders and unseen marvels, urging the observer to embrace the beauty that lies beyond the ordinary and discover the enchantment that awaits in uncharted territories.

Sunset’s Golden Embrace: Portland Head Light
As the last rays of sunlight bathe the lighthouse in shades of oranges and pinks, my thoughts turn to the countless ships and sailors spared from disaster by the unwavering guidance of this stately beacon. This tranquil setting stands in stark contrast to the tumultuous storms weathered over the years.

Mystic Peak
Despite the initial impression of this photograph suggesting a winter scene, it was actually captured at the end of May. The deep green evergreens in the foreground served as a visual anchor, almost a barrier to the rest of the image. I transformed the image into a black and white. I then brightened the trees to the extent that they resemble a snow-covered landscape. This, in my opinion, enhances the overall harmony of the image.
